Meeting for Good - Crowne Plaza Newcastle

Meeting for Good with IHG Hotels & Resorts

EVERY ACTION COUNTS

Given the increasing emphasis on sustainability within the Groups and Meetings sector, along with the persistent risk of greenwashing, it’s imperative for us to guarantee reliability and uniformity in delivering sustainable meetings. IHG has formulated a set of precise measures crucial for executing sustainable meetings. At Crowne Plaza Newcastle, we are committed to implementing all relevant actions in these areas.

Food & Beverage

  • We have initiated a comprehensive Food Waste Reduction Action Plan specifically tailored for banqueting events to ensure a more sustainable approach to food management.
  • Our commitment to sustainability extends to our banqueting menus, which now prominently feature locally sourced options, supporting regional producers and reducing carbon footprint.
  • In line with our eco-friendly practices, we’ve transitioned to reusable signage and labeling for our banquet service stations, minimizing the need for disposable materials and promoting environmental stewardship.
  • As part of our ongoing efforts to reduce waste, all serviceware used in banqueting, including plates, utensils, and drinkware, are carefully selected for their reusability, aligning with our dedication to sustainable practices across all aspects of our operations.

Hotel Practice

  • Digital Collateral and Sales Agreements: We’re embracing digital options for collateral such as hotel face sheets, sales contracts, BEOs, etc.
  • Linen and Towel Reuse Program: Introducing our “Sustainable Stay Program.” Guests who participate will enjoy a complimentary drink each night of their stay with us!

Meeting Space

  • To minimize single-use plastic, water coolers are placed in corridors, providing convenient access to hydration without disposable bottles.
  • Pens and notepads are available upon request, reducing unnecessary usage and contributing to waste reduction efforts.
  • Hotel reception utilizes digital screens for real-time information, reducing paper waste.
  • Show rounds are conducted efficiently and paperlessly using iPads, offering a seamless and eco-friendly experience.
  • Transitioning to digital brochures further reduces our ecological footprint.
  • Reduced HVAC policy has been implemented in pre-function spaces, meeting rooms and offices during low or no occupancy periods.
